Thinking about buying the Brevite Jumper camera backpack? In this in-depth review, I share my real-world experience using this popular photography bag for the past five years, including what I like, what I dislike, and whether I think it’s worth the price.

If you are in need of a stylish travel backpack that holds digital camera equipment, a laptop sleeve, and a water bottle holder, the Brevite Jumper is certainly worth considering. I hope that my review will help you decide if it’s the right fit for your needs.
Background
I am an amateur photographer and I bring my DSLR camera with me to car shows, on hikes, and on vacation. Prior to this backpack, I was using an Amazon Basics DSLR backpack that was just okay. It was designed for photographers with plenty of space for camera lenses and accessories, but it did not have a laptop sleeve or water bottle holder.
I went online and researched backpacks. The Brevite was the only one I found that met all of my requirements. In 2021, I paid $129 for the original Brevite Jumper Regular (18L) backpack.
As of 2026, the original 18L Jumper backpack has been discontinued and replaced by the Jumper 2.0, which has a higher starting price of $199. They also have a larger 23L version for $219.
Previously, the Regular bag came in 10 different colors while the Large was only available in 4 colors: black, blue, gray, and green. They appear to have changed this with the Jumper 2.0, which is available in 11 different colors in both sizes.
Likes
I like the design of the Jumper backpack. I think it looks elegant and subtle. It blends in and looks like a normal backpack and doesn’t scream “I’m full of expensive gear! Steal me first!”
The Jumper meets the carry on and personal item requirements for U.S. domestic airlines. That means you can fit it under the seat and can be used as a personal item for no charge, even on discount airlines. This was important to me.
The bag has a clever design which fits over the handle of your rolling luggage.
I like the configurable camera area with Velcro dividers that you can arrange to fit your specific gear.
I like the side access hatch for the camera.
The top handle is very secure.
I love the hidden zippers for wallet and phone
The build quality is great. I’ve had this bag for 5 years and used it on multiple trips, many times overstuffed. It has had no loose threads, no problems.
Dislikes
While this is a really great bag, there are a few things that could be improved.
- Shoulder straps could be thicker.
- Not as much padding as other backpacks on the back. I added a Ventapak backpack spacer frame from Amazon to solve the problem.
- My old Amazon Basics backpack had an orange interior, making it easier to find your items. I would love this bag with an orange interior.
- No shoulder or waist straps.
- If you use a very large telephoto lens, a conventional camera backpack might be a better fit for you.
Final Thoughts
For my needs, this is a nearly perfect backpack. I bring it along whether I am heading to a car show or a weekend trip. I can bring the laptop, my water, and my camera with room for some personal items as well.
If they came out with an updated version that had better padded straps and a high contrast interior, it really would be the perfect bag. Update: Brevite released the Jumper 2.0 in 2026, and it has thicker padding on the shoulder straps!
