Back in 2014, I registered an account with Twitter. During the 9 years between then and now, I have never had much success with Twitter as a platform. The people who I see having the most success on there are athletes, actors, celebrities, journalists and politicians. These people use the platform to advance their careers or their personal brand.
I made an effort with Twitter, sending out nearly 200 tweets during my time as a user. I tried hot takes, funny one-liners and anecdotes. I tried re-tweeting insightful or funny thoughts that others had shared. But my posts consistently did not receive any likes, comments or re-tweets, which was discouraging. Unlike Facebook, none of my family or friends use the service to share their life updates. Other than following brands, there was not much for me to do on there.
Due to recent changes to Twitter in 2023, I no longer feel like the site is a community that I want to be part of. I am closing down my account. I have created a PDF archive of my tweets for my own historical record. Buh bye, Twitter.
